DESCRIPTION The Tactile12000 is a 3-D, interactive simulation of a DJ setup - two turntables and a mixer. You can use it to crossfade, backspin, and speed up and slow down music on your computer. I created it in Macromedia Director and wrote a Director Xtra in C to handle some of the audio functionality, such as the pitch changes and routing separate streams to the left and right channels for cueing. I also designed the interface and created the graphics in Strata Studio Pro, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. The software and its predecessor (Tactile1200) has been featured in magazines and websites across the globe and has been downloaded well over a million times over the years. MTV.com contracted me to build custom versions for distribution on their website. I released the current version (2.1) as an open source project at Sourceforge. |
